Saurashtra’s experienced wicketkeeper-batter, Sheldon Jackson, has officially announced his retirement from white-ball cricket.
Sheldon Jackson, who played in 86 List A matches, scored a total of 2792 runs, including nine centuries and 14 fifties. He played a key role in Saurashtra’s victorious campaign in the 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy season.
In T20s, Sheldon Jackson scored 1812 runs from 84 matches, including one century and eleven half centuries.
Saurashtra Cricket Association president Jaydev Shah, in a statement, said: “His dedication, hard work, and exceptional performances over the years have made him a key player for Saurashtra. His commitment and passion for cricket in each format have been a true testament to the spirit of the game. As he bids farewell to the white-ball formats, his contributions will continue to inspire countless budding cricketers.”
Throughout his IPL career, Jackson has played 9 matches, scoring 61 runs at an average of 10.17, with a highest score of 16 runs. His strike rate stands at 107.02, with 5 fours and 1 six. Although Jackson didn’t make a significant impact with the bat in the IPL, his fielding skills have been noteworthy, taking 7 catches and 2 stumpings across 9 matches. In the 2022 IPL season, he played 5 matches, with a total of 23 runs, while in 2017, he scored 38 runs from 4 matches. He was acquired by KKR at the IPL 2022 auction for Rs 60.00 Lac, significantly higher than his Rs 20.00 Lac price in 2021. Despite limited opportunities in the IPL, Jackson’s experience as a wicketkeeper-batter in domestic cricket earned him a reputation, and he remains a valued member of the Kolkata squad.
Jackson, however, will continue to be available for red-ball cricket.
